Edmonton SWAT Oil Kings

The SWAT Oil Kings are one of 13 teams currently playing in the Edmonton Minor Hockey Association’s Clagget Division (“AA” level).  The league is comprised of the top teams in the peewee age group from Edmonton, St. Albert and Sherwood Park.  The approximately 200 players in the Division represent the top 10% of the 2,100 peewee age hockey players in the Greater Edmonton Area.

As of mid December, the team has an overall record of 20 wins and 5 losses and has had excellent early season results including going undefeated while capturing the “8 team” Oil King Invitational Preseason Tournament in October and recently winning the “B Final” in the Adam Myers Memorial Tournament in Leduc, Alberta in November.  The team hopes to add to its winning tradition as it has also been invited to participate in the 21st Annual Golden Bear Hockey Alumni Peewee Invitational Christmas Tournament where not unlike the Coca – Cola Classic, we will face some of the top teams in Western Canada. The Oil Kings are presently in second place in the very competitive Clagget Division with a combined regular season record of 9 wins and 3 losses.

The team make up includes 15 second year players and 2 first year players which has resulted in the coaching staff being the benefactors of a roster that is experienced, dedicated, hard working and goal oriented.  The coaching staff consists of Mark McCann (head coach), Craig Simpson (assistant coach), Brad Paterson (assistant coach), Scott Sowa (assistant coach), Dave Bigam (assistant coach) and Dylan McCann (goalie coach).  This diverse group has an extensive record of coaching and playing success both at the amateur hockey level and in the National Hockey League.
