2009 Tournament Info
Prince George Cougars
The Prince George Viking Construction PeeWee Tier1 Cougars represent the city of Prince George (population 80,000). The Cougars don’t have a league in the north so they travel to play competitive teams. To date, the Pee Wee Cougars have attended three tournaments, their best result coming in Kamloops. They were defeated in the semi finals by a tough Kamloops team who were the eventual tournament winners. In addition to the tournaments, the Cougars have played two weekends of exhibition games against Fairview from Northern Alberta where they had a record of three wins against one loss.
Last year the team played in the Cariboo league which was a “AA” league. Our record in the league was 6-3-3. Overall, last year the team’s record was 31-18-5. This year the team will be travelling to a total of ten tournaments.
The coaching staff is lead by Al Loring who played in the BCJHL where he received a four year scholarship to the University of Maine and in 1988 signed with the Los Angeles Kings. His assistant coach is Todd Stephen whose father was raised in Vernon and has coached past Prince George teams in the Coca-Cola Classic. The coaching staff brings together a great deal of experience and knowledge of the game and has built a team based on speed, hard work and unselfish play.
The team is comprised of fifteen second year players and one first year player and all are determined to work hard each and every game.
